Save Money and Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

The City of Kalamazoo is partnering with Consumers Energy and encouraging all utility customers to take advantage of their Free Home Energy Analysis Program. Through the program, qualified Consumer Energy customers can reduce their monthly utility costs, get up to $50 of water and energy saving products for free, and have a more energy efficient and comfortable home.

Schedule a Home Energy Analysis

Customers that request a Home Energy Analysis will have a trained analyst visit their home. During a 90-minute walkthrough, they will evaluate the customer’s home and identify ways that it can be made more energy efficient. With the customers approval, upgrades will be installed that can save up to $150 per year in energy and utility costs. Potential upgrades include LED lightbulbs, kitchen and faucet aerators, high efficiency showerheads, water heater pipe wrap, LED nightlights, and programmable thermostats (eligibility determined during visit). Additionally, the City of Kalamazoo is adding water saving tools to the incentive like dye kits to check your toilet for potential leaks as well as other opportunities for those that are not eligible to participate in the Consumers Energy program. Once complete, the customer will receive a summary report with additional recommendations on how to improve the home’s comfort and energy efficiency.

During each appointment, health guidelines will be followed to protect the customers safety including the use of face masks, hand sanitizer, social distancing, and disinfecting work areas.

“Energy efficiency saves our customers money and makes our community more sustainable,” explained James Baker, Director of Public Services for the City of Kalamazoo, “and we’re grateful to Consumers Energy for including water efficiency upgrades as part of this program. I encourage all of our utility customers to take advantage of this free program to upgrade your home and help reduce your bills.”

Customers that wish to schedule a Home Energy Analysis can contact Consumers Energy directly by calling 1-888-316-8014 or online at and selecting promo code Kzoo21.
