Utilities

The City of Kalamazoo provides safe, clean drinking water to more than 120,000 customers and wastewater treatment service to more than 150,000. Customer service for water and sewer utility customers (including billing, payments, shut-offs for non-payment, transfers of service, and new service installation) is provided by the City Treasurer's Office, located on the first floor of City Hall. Representatives are available weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in person or by calling (269) 337-8036. 

  • Apply for Utility Service

    To transfer service for a dwelling that is already connected to the City water system, please apply online using the link below or complete a Transfer or Water Service Application and return it to the City Treasurer's Office (located on the first floor of City Hall, 241 W South Street). A refundable customer security deposit of $ 60 may be required. Please be sure to bring a valid driver's license or Michigan I.D.

  • Request New Utility Service

    To install new city water service for dwellings previously using well water, new construction, etc., please complete the appropriate application below and return it to the City Treasurer's Office located on the first floor of City Hall, 241 W South Street. If water service is to be left on, an additional refundable customer security deposit may be required. Please be sure to bring a valid driver's license or Michigan I.D. If the dwelling is outside of the city limits, a permit from the village or township is also required.

  • Utility Bill Payments

    The City of Kalamazoo provides several payment options including in-person, online, and phone payments. More information is available here.
  • Utility Extension to Pay

    The City of Kalamazoo offers up to 2 payment extensions per year to help utility customers. To see if you qualify for an extension, please contact the City Treasurer's Office at (269) 337-8149 first to verify that you qualify. If you qualify, please complete the form below.

  • Lead and Copper Testing

    The City of Kalamazoo offers free Lead and Copper testing kits. For more information please call (269) 337-8550.
  • Energy Efficiency and Savings

    The City of Kalamazoo is partnering with Consumers Energy and encouraging all utility customers to take advantage of their Free Home Energy Analysis Program. Through the program, qualified Consumer Energy customers can reduce their monthly utility costs, get up to of water and energy saving products for free, and have a more energy efficient and comfortable home.
